Mechanical Draughtsperson

Our drawing office within the engineering department at Crofts Gears Benoni is growing, and we are looking for a Mechanical Draughtsperson to join us. You will work across the full lifecycle of complex mechanical components: gears, gear cases and couplings. The work is highly technical, and 3D modelling in Autodesk Inventor, managed in Vault, is central to it.

• Create accurate, detailed, manufacture-ready drawings for our production team
• Measure up and reverse engineer refurbished gearboxes
• Reproduce old, redundant drawings
• Interpret client sketches and turn them into engineering drawings
• Spend time on the factory floor and take field measurements onsite

• Qualification in Mechanical Draughting or Mechanical Engineering
• Strong 3D modelling skills in Autodesk Inventor or similar, Vault experience is advantageous
• Sound understanding of tolerances and of how components are manufactured and assembled
• Willingness to work on the factory floor and in a team environment

Mechanically minded, not just technically trained. You read a drawing and immediately think about how it goes together, where it might fail and whether it can be manufactured.
